Freedom Tower - The High Line - The Vessel
Above is the view from the water approaching the Southern tip of Manhattan.
A short ways up the Western shore is the old elevator rail line turned urban green space, The High Line opened after decades of neglect as a crumbling, weedy, rail trestle, alongside the old Meat Markets. It extends over old tenements and parking lots up to Chelsea Market and a bit beyond. And then, not so neatly connected, is the new and much-hyped northern Spur, and its centerpiece, The Vessel (below). This is a kaleidoscopic stair-climber's dream and pretty interesting from many perspectives.
