Maria Giancarli's Tiramisu
(Italian "Pick me up" Dessert)
5 eggs, separated, whites whipped to stiff peaks
6 tablespoons coffee flavored liquor
3/4 cup brewed espresso or other strong coffee
3 tablespoons of rum or 6 tablespoons of your favorite liquor
2 ounces semisweet chocolate, grated
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
Beat egg yolks and sugar in a large bowl until pale yellow. Beat in mascarpone and heavy cream.
Stir in liquor, fold in whipped egg whites. Mix espresso and rum; brush onto lady fingers. Line bottom of a 3 quart bowl with
half the lady fingers. Pour half the mascarpone mixture into lined bowl. Sprinkle with half the grated chocolate. Arrange a single layer
of lady fingers over the mascarpone mixture; pour in remaining mascarpone mixture. Chill at least six hours. (Can cover and refrigerate overnight.)
Dust surface with cocoa and sprinkle with grated chocolate.
