This poor guy/gal strayed from the migratory flock, which is typically heading from the Arctic to New Mexico, but wound up healthy and seemingly content (but solo) in Southwest Florida. A very rare sighting here.
This guy sure gave it a try... when in Rome.... s/he was watching the nearby limpkins and how they found found, which in their case involved pecking at and scooping up apple snails. It's really not so easy, this snow goose realizes. And in the end, it's sampling the local wild grasses on land. (There are these big alligators there in the water too. Maybe a good choice.) Hopefully this lone traveler made it back to New Mexico - or learned to fish & eat grass. The weather sure was nice on this day, and the warm water no doubt felt nice after such a long flight.
Below is the perfect sound-track to accompany this bird, and its story, suggested by Silvia Aldovina. Keep the Faith! Buona Pasqua! Happy Easter.
