St. Basil's Cathedral at Night
Red Square, Moscow
Here are a few night-lit images of this visually magic cathedral, in Moscow's Red Square. The colors, shapes and design intricacy has held me in awe since I was little, something visually unique, iconic, and... Russian (Orthodox) in the architecture. As I child I referred to this as 'the Russian churches with colorful swirls of cotton candy', but it's even better! Today I simply devour all the visual and artistic flourish in this grand design. Actually, this was the dream cathedral of Ivan the Terrible, who (according to legend) had the architect blinded after its completion, so as to never again design such a masterpiece for anyone else.
