Hawai'ian Delights
King Kamehameha's View
Kona, Hawai'i
This was taken near the Palace of King
Kamehameha, on the "Big Island" of Hawai'i. Kamehameha was the last of the line
of Great Hawaiian kings, as best described in Michener's
Hawaii, and with great historical and emotional
poignancy in Helena Allen's (much smaller) paperback,
The Betrayal of Princess Liluokalani: Last Hawaiian Queen.
In the background center, with
proper resolution, patches of farm land can be seen,
plantations where Kona coffee beans are grown,
unique in their taste due to both lineage and
the rich volcanic soil.
